Google Search Generative Experience (SGE) is a new search experience that uses generative artificial intelligence (AI) to provide users with quick and clear overviews of search topics. 

SGE is an experimental update to Google Search Engine (Google SEO) that generate a summary of results to searches. It is still in the experimental stage, to turn on SGE, at the top right of Google homepage, tabs the Labs icon, toggle to enable it.

Human input and evaluation are important in developing and training SGE’s outputs, focusing on attributes like length, format and clarity.

How Does New Google’s Search Generative Results Works? 

As an integral component of the Search Generative Experience, when users input a search query into Google, they will receive an AI-generated summary of the search results. 

Additionally, they'll have the opportunity to either "ask a follow-up" or choose from a set of predefined questions to gather further information. And there is a carousel of search result options on the right. 

Google Shopping will also appear in the AI results section if you are searching for products.

Google is rolling out SGE thoughtfully as an experiment, and in accordance with AI Principles.

  • (SGE) is presently driven by a range of Language Models (LLMs), including an enhanced edition of MUM and PaLM2. Utilizing a diverse set of models within the feature set enables Google to enhance and customize the models to better address the distinct requirements of users, assisting users effectively on their information journeys. Many people have now engaged directly with LLMs, including through experiments like Bard.

This expands on the current features of Google Search while setting Google apart from OpenAI’s widely used chatbot, ChatGPT. It integrates search and generative AI into one comprehensive solution.

Most importantly, this eliminates the need for users to go through lists of content and delve into individual blogs and articles to access insights. Instead, they can utilize AI-generated summaries to quickly find the essential information that aligns with their search intent.

  1. Identify and monitor the answer of AI results of your keyword search. 
  2. Modify your content according to SGE’s preferences. If it favors a straightforward answer, add that to your content. For example, search: What is SGE?; your content shall include, “SGE is…”
